With the continuous development of the economy, the speed of cities continues to increase, and the number of demolition and construction projects is increasing day by day, resulting in a large amount of construction waste. It is urgent to improve the level of resource utilization of construction waste in my country. For this reason, this magazine has set up a special edition to invite relevant fields to share the experience and wisdom of resource utilization of construction waste, and to provide reference for the majority of construction companies.

The large-scale generation and accumulation of construction waste is a major problem that my country will face for a long time in the future. From the perspective of the ecological environment, under the background of large-scale demolition and construction of various buildings, the country generates billions of tons of construction waste each year, and most of them are directly landfilled without treatment, which becomes a major ecological hazard. Since building materials and building decoration materials are mostly high-energy-consuming and heavily polluting industrial products, the comprehensive environmental impact of construction waste is large. Construction waste is not only the accumulation of waste, but also a large increase in carbon emissions.

In the 40 years of rapid development, my country has built a large number of buildings: residential housing, factory buildings and various facilities of enterprises and institutions, various infrastructure such as railways and highways, and major engineering projects. There is no doubt that these buildings will enter the scrap period in the next few decades, and a large amount of construction waste will inevitably accumulate. In addition, new buildings are constantly being added every year, and construction waste will continue to accumulate at a high growth rate in the future. It is expected that several cities will enter the construction waste outbreak period in 40 or 50 years. However, the corresponding development plan has not yet included the overall plan and comprehensive response plan for the scrapping of various types of buildings.

Due to frequent transactions by owners, residential or commercial and government buildings in my country are demolished and renovated many times in a short period of time, resulting in a large amount of construction waste. Each house will cause several tons of construction waste every time it is renovated, which not only causes the emission of solid waste, but also unnecessarily increases the resource consumption and energy consumption in the production process of building materials, and also causes unnecessary loss of ecological resources such as wood. Frequent renovation and reconstruction is also an important factor in shortening the life of buildings.
